Nut rotating screw jacks’ main components are trapezoidal/ball screw, worm screw, worm shaft, thrust-bearing load support, bronze lifting nut, and gearbox housing.
With the rotation of the worm gear, the lifting screw does not come up and down from the jack base, it only makes a rotation around its axis. The bronze nut on the lifting screw moves linearly upwards or downwards
Key Screw Jacks for Non-Rotation
Keyed translating screw jacks are needed when the loads don’t prevent lifting screw rotation. it used a key fixing to the jack housing and keyway milling into the length of the lifting screw, which stops the screw from rotating without the need for end pinning.
Please note the keyway in the lifting screw will cause greater than normal wear on the internal threads of the worm gear. And this design is only available for acme screw jacks, ball screw jacks don’t have this design.
